Help with bluetooth

    Help with bluetooth

    I purchased a bluetooth adapter:

    which says it is based on Broadcom BCM20702, whatever that means. ALso says it works with Linux. But when I plug it in, the system does not detect it.

    I found a monitor command, btmon, which gives this:

    $ sudo btmon

    System settings > bluetooth > devices tells me:

    Your default Bluetooth adapter is not visible for remote devices.

    I am running Linux jon-neon 4.4.0-77-generic #98-Ubuntu SMP

    Knowing almost nothing about bluetooth, I am stumped. Help, please. Thanks in advance.

    Not sure where you are getting that, as in the Product Description > System Requirements it states:
    OS Supported: Microsoft Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/Win7/Win8/Win10
    Not compatible with Mac os or USB 3.0
    Windows no longer obstructs my view.
    Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

      Well, on the Amazon page, one use says it works out of the box on Linux.

      So do you know one which does work on LInux? There is on called Plugable on Amazon which Amazon says works with Linux, but the user comments say otherwise.

      There is an Ubuntu page which gives a list, but those are models which are hard to find on my (eastern) side of the Atlantic. I'll keep lookin'.

        P.S. It is very tiring going thru a list of approved adaptors and looking each one up on the Internet, only to find it is not available.

          It’s priced the same as the one you bought on Amazon (before the deep discount Amazon offered of course), but it specifically lists all the Linux distriubtions (by release version) it works on.

            Well, 60$ is a lot more than 10€. Plus I have to order it from the US. I can't find it at all over here (France). missed that link when I got lost in the list on the right.

              After you plug it in does "sudo lshw" show it?

              I solved the problem by re-compile kernel with customized patch. But it won't stay after kernel update.
