As per title. This morning I got kernel 5.15.0-53.59 and it broke both wired and wireless networking and sound on my Lenovo machine. I had to boot to the previous kernel to get back to normal!

I’ve probably asked this before, but do you have package dkms installed?Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

DKMS is now installed. For some reason my WiFi adaptor driver (Realtek 8821C PCIe Wi-Fi driver) was not installed although I'm sure I installed it when I installed the system. Anyway, sound and network still do not work with the new kernel.Last edited by Beerislife; Nov 15, 2022, 11:36 PM.Constant change is here to stay!

Search for 'linux-image' as opposed to 'kernel' just to filter by package names, or just for '5.15.0'
But to check for some basics, let's look for any info we can find on the command line;
make sure the three basic meta-packages for kernel-related items are installed. These always depend on the current versions of various kernel packages, and will pull them in if they are not installed
Code:sudo apt install linux-generic linux-headers-generic linux-image-generic
You should have these packages installed (as deps of those three above):
linux-headers-5.15.0-53 linux-headers-5.15.0-53-generic linux-image-5.15.0-53-generic
linux-modules-5.15.0-53-generic linux-modules-extra-5.15.0-53-generic
if it were just the wireless, I'd suspect a third party driver for the rtl8821ce failed to rebuild for the new kernel (dkms), or the official rtl8821ce-dkms package failed to rebuild it. But Losing three different pieces of hardware males me think some module packages failed to install for some reason.

Thanks, that seemed to help, I think.

But why you didn't seem to have the main meta-packages linux-generic, linux-headers-generic, and linux-image-generic is odd.
You weren't an early-upgrading guinea pig by any chance , were you?
