Xword after install 0 bytes space then crash

Well, this really is a first for the old woodsmoker!

I was perusing the games section of synaptic, probably why I should be using MUON!! lol, and saw that Xword is there.

Well, I would like to have a native crossword puzzle maker so I thought I'd install it.

There was about 1.8 gb space on the hard drive, the whole drive is 25 gb.

The app did not appear in the menu so I tried to run it from terminal and got some kind of lines saying that the package was broken and then something to the effect of "0 space remaining". I didn't copy the messages just closed terminal and looked in dolphin and down at the bottom right it said "0 bytes".

    The machine then locked up.

It took quite a few restarts it never got beyond KDE Neon 8.5.2 loading with the spinny thing except when the old loading module appeared and there were, I think, 6 lines of "1 sector cleared" so "apparently" KDENeon is/was trying to repair itself. :0

I could not get INTO the boot menu, it did appear, with the repair options, etc, so I could not get to any kind of diagnostic or repair.

i googled it and all of the options are to have the system running and then apparently clear old kernels WHILE the OS is running,

So, it....might be that what.... X-word tried to load an old kernel?

Anyway, it looks as if I'll have to try to possibly clean "old kernels" using Knoppix, ? ? ?

    Any advice would be helpful.

Well, I wasn't able to get to this until a while ago.

Using Knoppix I found that in var/ lib / apt / lists / partial

partial had all of the open memory, approx. 1.2 GB in it.

I could not find evidence of another kernel.

Unfortunately there was no way to actually do anything with it so I wiped and re-installed.

So, for KDE Neon there really are some apps that out of bounds at this point.

    particularly xword in this case.

Another two apps which "install" but will not actually run are Extreme Tux Racer and Tux Cart.

I reinstalled after the above and still the two apps do not run.

i do not think that it is a memory leakage thing or anything like that because Armagetron Advanced and Frozen Bubble run ok.

So it must be something that is "behind the times" with the apps in terms of KDENeon breaking the sound barrier with updated stuff.

both games play on Kubu LtS.

Thank you for the info, I'm running unstable so I guess that is the problem.

        thanks!
