    Re: KDE 4.1 - Now

    Hmmmm.

Well, it is this "same log out splash, except no moon pic"

I'll look in those locations you mention and see what is there.

EDIT: Well that pic is located here on my system: "/usr/lib/kde4/share/kde4/apps/kdm/pics"
This is HH 8.04 remix KDE4.1 Beta 2. I wonder where it really needs to go now that I'm on Beta 2?

      Re: KDE 4.1 - Now

Well after a few updates some KDE4.1b2 some normal HH remix4. Now the Luna Widget no longer works. I get the little pseudo-Transparent window, but the picture of the Moon's Phase isn't there. Oh why have the Moons on this forsaken me!!

Luna's back. Deleted my .KDE4. Hope we don't have to do this every time KDE4.1 has an update to it!

Maybe it was just in total eclipse.

                Re: KDE 4.1 - Now

Well, here is the thing. After deleting the .KDE4 folder I had Luna and the Log Out Moon Graphic back. After making modifications to get my desktop back to what I had, the Log Out Moon Graphic disappeared again. Luna is still "hanging" in there . What is that log out menu looking for that it can't find once you modify your Desktop? It shouldn't do that!

                  Re: KDE 4.1 - Now

How to get applications with icons to the panel in Intrepid alpha.

                  The problem:
Right clicking on some apps (FF, OOO, TB, etc.) in kickoff and choosing "add to panel" does not work correctly.

                  Solution:
                  open up ~./kde4/share/applink.
You may have to do this in kdesudo konqueror

Rightclick and choose "create new link to application"
add the comands, change the permissions to username, add description and icon.

                  Now for the fun part:
Leftclick on the new link and move it to anywhere on your panel.

                  Done
HP Pavilion dv6 core i7 (Main)
                  4 GB Ram
                  Kubuntu 18.10

OK. Had a system at work where XP refused to install indicated all sorts of system errors. Decided to install KDE4 Remix on the system (the 32bit version and not the 64 bit that is on my home system). Isntall went great. Immediately did the update to KDE4.1 Beta2. Reboot. Works great! Way better than what's going on right now at home. Made Desktop mods and all is well. That cements it for me. I'm reinstalling!

                      Re: KDE 4.1 - Now

OK. Got SAMBA working... YEA!!!!! (Basically had to find the Original Packaged smb.conf and replace the one I modified...which those mods came from and older SAMBA version...I guess they made improvements to the new SAMBA that my mods were messing things up)

Found what is corrupting the Log-Off Selection Splash (you know, the splash with ShutDown, Restart, etc..). All with it is well until you install kdebase-plasma-kde4 and plasmoids. Don't know why, it just does. Don't know if going back to extragear-plasma would fix the problem or not. At least it's not me .

I can tell you I've done a lot of playing around with LDE4.1 Beta2. I love it! There are those few annoying problems, but I've been productive as ever. I have a beautiful desktop that I think rivals any others out there.

Just need more documentation so I can customize my Splashes and Log In screens. Hope nobody minds this long meandering thread. Just a great thread for Testing KDE4.1.

                            OK. Another entry here

Found a Plasma Theme called Glassified. It's great! With Desktop Effects on it gives me virtually a transparent task bar. Finally!! As far as Desktop Effects messing with Nexuiz, I found that if I use the sdl run file instead of the glx I have no issues and everything still runs great!

Guys, I know what a lot of people have been saying about KDE4.0 up to this recent Beta, but I've got to say that, really, KDE4.1 to me just rocks! Not only has it provided fun for me learning this and figuring out the works, but seeing what this has to offer has been great.

Luna was never gone and plasma was never broken!! The reason why the ShutDownDialog window seemed broken was because I changed the Default Plasma Theme to something else. The ShutDownDialog is controled by that! They are all located here: "/usr/lib/kde4/share/kde4/apps/desktoptheme". Look in default and there is Luna. Wouldn't have found out had I not installed the Glassified theme. The theme I originally chose over the Default though appears to have major problems other than the ShutDownDialog. I think it was Elegance.

                              Wow..
