I'm running 22.04 on my HP laptop, and it had no sound. I used the sudo alsa force-reload described in https://itsfoss.com/fix-sound-ubuntu-1304-quick-tip/ and restarted the laptop and my sound was back.

The laptop isn't my main OS unit; my iMac is; so not having sound wasn't a deal breaker. But, it has always had sound on all previous versions of Kubuntu, so I knew it wasn't the hardware. So, Google is your friend.
