Let us say that one has a lot of documents, maybe a hundred, in the documents folder.
And, let us say that one want's to tweeze out only the documents with ".docx" extension, say one has only a few in the hundred.
One can do the normal search, one can go to the folder and "arrange as" etc.
But, using the folder view.
Using the wrench;
a) Display the folder in question.
b) go to the filter and check "deselect all".
c) then go through the items, there are MANY items, that can be displayed, and select say, ".docx".
Click apply and voila', the appropriate items appear.
Or let us say that one wants the .docx items and also the .jpegs that are intermingled in it. Well, select .jpeg also and both will be displayed.
Not necessarily more efficient than other ways, but a quick and dirty using the folder that is probably there anyway.
