This is mainly intended for folks who go back and forth between Kubu and a distro with a "panel" that is based on Ubuntu Gnome.
If one is using Dolphin:
Open the file system using Dolphin and navigate to the folder you want to have in the menu.
Don't "click it", just right click "on" it.
There should be a menu entry for "add to places" part way down. Just click it and it is in "Places".
If one is using Nautilus:
Using Nautilus navigate to the desired folder, and again, don't click it to open it, just "click to highlight" as if one is going to "drag it".
Observation of the "left panel" will reveal two sections, the top part, a separator, and the bottom part.
Just "drag" the folder to the bottom part. It will not remove the folder from the normal file view, the action merely places a link in the Places menu.
If anyone has another method, please post it.
Or, if anyone has questions, please ask.
