How to install lexmark x2670 driver

I need this urgent 'cause soon I will be starting to study. I have downloaded the driver thru lexmark.com and I haven´t been able to install it. I have tried few things but, been unable to do it.

Any help, I will be very grateful.

A bit of googling found some instructions for how to install the driver here.

    Have you tried that?

Hi. Sorry for the delay in answering, Im new on this forum things and I havent been able to find what you post. Ok. I already make to run the installer, but the thing is, that when it says me to conncect the printer via usb, I connect it but when I press next on the installer, it continues saying "connect the printer via usb". Dont know what to do then.

If you look closely at my post, you'll see the word "here" is a hyperlink. Click on it to go to the web page with instructions.

PS. This topic is in the wrong sub-forum really - perhaps one of the moderators could move it?

Re: How to install lexmark x2670 driver

After installing unp (which I see that you did), you then need to do the wget command, which it looks like you skipped over... I suspect that is the reason that you got all those errors.

The correct sub-forum for this query would be "Kubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot -> Hardware Support", but I believe that only a forum moderator can move this topic.

Almost the same... I like to think of them as being like pizzas; they have the same base, but different toppings. Ubuntu uses Gnome, Kubuntu uses KDE.

It was in the list of instructions on the page that I linked to.

                      cd $HOME
                      sudo apt-get -y install unp
                      wget http://downloads.lexmark.com/downloa...386.deb.sh.zip
                      unp ./lexmark-inkjet-08-driver-1.0-1.i386.deb.sh.zip
                      rm ./lexmark-inkjet-08-driver-1.0-1.i386.deb.sh.zip
                      sudo ./lexmark-inkjet-08-driver-1.0-1.i386.deb.sh
In your earlier post where you showed what you saw in your terminal, I see the 2nd command of the instruction list:

                      sudo apt-get -y install unp
Which was successful. The next command I see is the 4th command:

                      unp ./lexmark-inkjet-08-driver-1.0-1.i386.deb.sh.zip
                      Cannot read ./lexmark-inkjet-08-driver-1.0-1.i386.deb.sh.zip, skipping...
WARNING: There were errors while processing files!
I don't see the 3rd command (the wget command).

If you have already downloaded the driver file, then you must cd to the directory the file is saved in, and enter only the 4th, 5th and 6th commands from the list of instructions.

Thank you for contacting Lexmark e-Support regarding your X2670. With the release of the 11.10 Ubuntu and Kubuntu Linux OS, there have been many challenges with the Linux driver support even with our newer models. I understand and appreciate your desire for Linux drivers. Unfortunately, we don't have support for 11.10 OS for your printer. Here is the list of supported Operating Systems: Debian GNU/Linux 4.0, Debian GNU/Linux 5.0, Ubuntu 8.04 LTS that you may look up from our website. Here is the link :

Hmm... unfortunately, I don't have much idea of what else you could try to make the Lexmark work.

If you decide to buy a replacement printer that should "just work" in Linux, I would recommend something made by HP, as they have excellent Linux support. Usually, you don't even need to install a driver for them.
