I'm running Kubuntu 10.10 on an Asus P5QL Pro mobo and after install I had a distinct lack of sound. I installed the "Alsamixergui" package and my sound immediately started working even after I uninstalled it. Hope this helps. I understand that someone else has probably posted this or something like or better than it somewhere else, but I figure the more the merrier, right?
