How to: Android TMobile G1 Kontact setup.

If a moderator wants to start an "Android" thread or whatever and move this there or to move the thread to another place please feel free to do so.

This is for my Android Tmobile G1 1.6 build and Kubuntu Lucid with Trinity desktop.

I've double checked the steps but if someone finds an error PLEASE correct it within this post, if a moderator, I hereby give permission, or if not a mod, please post a followup comment and I will change things.

Make sure the gmail account is correct first.
    Log into your account.
    Mail
    Settings
    Forwarding POP/IMAP
    IMAP account
    enable IMAP

    Go to Kontact.
    Configure Kontact
    Kontact
    E-mail
    Accounts
    Add
there will be a popup box
    tick IMAP
    ok
Account Name(this is not your gmail name it is: IMAP Account
Login: this is your gmail account as in woodsmoke aaaaatttt gmail.com
    password
    Host: imap.gmail.com
    Port: 143
Tick the following: you can come back later to change things but this verifies that you have, indeed, set things up correctly.
    Store IMAP password
    Automatically Compact Folders
    Load attachments on demand
    Include in manual mail check
    Enable interval mail checking
    pick a time
    Go to Security tab.
    tick:
Use SSL for secure mail download
    ok
    apply

Then go to the e-mail part of Kontact and you will see a little thingy for IMAP account, click it.
You will get a requestor for your gmail account name
then password, and Wallet will ask to store it, you will have to deal with wallet twice if you don't want to use it.
It may take a few seconds after you have entered the password for things to happen.
If you DO NOT...have some kind of error, like entering a password wrong then things SHOULD start happening in a short while.
I purposely went back and mis-typed the word "mail" to "mai" and got an error message, so the error messages do work.

Android on a T-mobile G1 1.6 build (I do not know what you do on another version of the OS.
    You have to go to
    menu
    settings
    data synchronization
tick the Gmail (it is by default ticked, you may have UNticked it.
You can also synch the calendar and the contacts.

    Hope this helps some.
