Having trouble with getting your M-audio soundcard to work properly with PulseAudio? I was until I found an answer on the Ubuntu forum site. I have an M-Audio 24/96, but I believe this will work on all M-audio cards. I had a fresh install and loved the freshness of the kde desktop under Kubuntu and was determined to fix any niggling little issues. Actually audio for me is a big issue; so my heart sank on hearing no sound. I checked Kmix and everything was OK except that I had no option to choose analogue output..... Having found the fix, I want to share it with fellow users with this problem. It basically involves removing pulseaudio with:
sudo apt-get remove pulseaudio gstreamer0.10-pulseaudio
Reboot and voila sound should be back...... Of course bug reporting pulseaudio afterwards id a good idea so that they can prioritize to fix this bug!
Now you can kick back and enjoy you M-audio sound.......
