HOWTO: install openOffice 3.1 (on Hardy Heron, KDE 3.5)

    Thanks to:
    http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/..._based_Distros
    Jim.hitch here:
    http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...;topicseen#new

    Download to home here:
    http://download.openoffice.org/

    Extract the file thus:
In dolphin go to home, F4 opens terminal.
    Type: tar -vxzf filename

Remove old oOo in Adept thus:
    Write: openoffice, unckeck "uninstalled"
Remove all files (they should be oOo-files) one by one.
    AND (afterwards)
    In Dolphin: Find files:
    openoffice
    Look in: file:///
(to remove the files, you will have to open terminal from the directories containing the oOo
    directories, and type:
    rm -r openoffice)
I also removed from the hidden files in my home directory:
    .openoffice.org2
    openoffice_dictionaries

    Extract downloaded file thus:
Go to home directory, where the downloaded file should be, open terminal (F4), and type:
tar -vxzf filename (instead of filename, write the entire name of the downloaded file)

    Install your extracted files:
You now have a new folder in your home folder, in my case:
    OOO310_m19_native_packed-1_en-US.9420/
    In Dolphin go there.
    Find
    DEBS
    Go there
    Open terminal (F4), and type:
    sudo dpkg -i *.deb

    Install the menus:
    In /DEBS, there is a sub-folder called "desktop-integration"
Go there, call terminal (F4), and type:
    sudo dpkg -i filename
(instead of filename, write the entire name of the file you see there)

    Voila!
    Written in oOo 3.1
According to Jim (see link above) Adept will now also notify of updates!

Shouldn't the title say "on Hardy Heron 8.04"?

The title was sloppy, I agree. I have altered it.
      Takk skal du ha.
