I'm having an issue getting a kubuntu client to mount a windows 2003 file server users home folder. I can get the file server to mount to the /mnt folder on the local box, but I would like to get the client box to use the home folder instead of the auto created one. So when a user clicks the home folder icon on the taskbar and goes to documents it would be the servers home folder documents instead.
So currently what is working is users can login using the A.D. credentials via likewise-open, I can use samba/dolphin to get to the server and find the home folders, also I can get the servers share to mount to the /mnt folder.
What I would like to get working is when the users login the home folder becomes the home folder thats on the server. So when users save documents and what not it is saving on the server instead of the local box.
I'm hoping it is just a matter of changing the permissions on the home folder to allow mounts then scripting the mount with wildcards so anyone can just sit down and boom the files are just there, I'm not sure as to how to get this to automatically happen when a user logins in. From what I've seen so far on the net includes giving all my users root access to do the mount part or add each person to fstab which I don't want to do for security reason and because I have way to many users to add to fstab.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
