    Superkaramba widgets as plasmoids

If you miss the old superkaramba widgets in KDE4, this howto may be for you (I know you can run superkaramba in KDE4, but why should you if you're already running a widget application...plasma)

    1. Unlock widgets
    2. Add widgets
    3. Click 'Install new widgets'
    4. Choose 'Install widget from local file'
    5. Choose 'SuperKaramba: Karamba desktop theme'
    6. click Next
    7. Browse to the .skz (superkaramba zip) file you want to install
(if your theme isn't zipped into an .skz file, here are the instructions on how to create the .skz file:
http://netdragon.sourceforge.net/rel...otes_0_37.html, look under '.skz file format')
    8. click Finish
    9. Your superkaramba widget will be available as a plasmoid in the add widget dialog (you may need to close and reopen the dialog)

Tested on KDE 4.2 Beta 1

    Re: Superkaramba widgets as plasmoids

I've been trying to install LiquidWeather in Plasma, but there is no listing for SuperKaramba widgets in the 'Install from local file' option, just these:

    - Plasmoid
    - MacOS Dashboard
    - QEdje Gadgets
    - Web Widget

Those are my only options. I'm running Kubuntu 9.04 with KDE 4.2.4. Any suggestions?

      Re: Superkaramba widgets as plasmoids

Do you have the package: superkaramba ?

SuperKaramba theme support for the KDE 4 Plasma desktop

SuperKaramba was the KDE 3.5 utility for displaying interactive desktop
applets, called "themes". This package allows the Plasma desktop to use
      SuperKaramba themes.

This package is part of the KDE 4 utilities module.

Hmm - there is "Install New Widget From File" but not "Remove Widget" ?

      Manual remove:

      Directory from the ~/.kde/share/apps/plasma/plasmoids/<widget>
and the .desktop file from the ~/.kde/share/kde4/services/<widget>.desktop
      Before you edit, BACKUP !

Why there are dead links ?

        Re: Superkaramba widgets as plasmoids

My install of 9.04 is fresh, so I don't believe that directory is present in my home dir any longer but I'll check. And if having support for Karamba widgets in Plasma is as simple as installing SuperKaramba, I'm all over it...thanks!
