HOWTO: Setup Samba peer-to-peer with Windows

This is not mine - I found it last night on the Ubuntu forum. It was EXACTLY what I needed. It worked the first time through.

Agreed - this is an excellent HOWTO, and enabled me with zilch experience to set up my own home network.

Thoroughly recommended, and thanks to Stormbringer for writing it.

      Snowhog:

Yes, this worked very well. It also taught me about the smb.conf file. It is much less fearful than I thought!

However, KDE offers a very complete GUI for setting up Samba. Pieces of it are included with Fedora 8, and even more of it is available in Xandros. Setting up a Samba network in Xandros is a no-brainer, largely because of this excellent KDE utility.

Anyone know if this can be had for Kubuntu?

As this is an old thread, responding will bump it back up in view again. However, because it may no longer be on the 'subscribed' list, I'll post another thread with regard to the KDE utility.
