Kubuntu Crashing

I'm not sure if my problem is to do with the nvidia drivers but if I leave my computer sitting idle for a while the whole system seems to lock.It happens a lot with amarok especially if I try to run visualisations.Im also having problems with the blackbox java plugin and firefox.Whenever I try to open a web page with a java applet firefox crashes.same with the shockwave plugin.
I have an AMD64 bit processor and a nvidia GeForce 6200+ 256mb graphics card.
Any Help?

I have had problems in the past using Amarok, with OSS sound. Make sure ALSA is being used in control>sound settings>hardware.
