Hello, I am new to Linux and booted my Laptop and I am getting an error that says no suitable video mode found. Upon booting I pressed the shift key and esc and was able to do the memory, hard drive, and diagnostics test and all are ok. What do I do next? Thank you in advance

You can start by telling us what laptop you have. Also what happens when it boots does it just go to a terminal or does it just never boot? have you tried any of the boot options for the kernel .. i think for you nomodeset might help

What laptop Manufacture and model?
What video card or GPU does it have (Intel, nVidia, ATI, ?) and does it also have on-board graphics?
Did you try 14.04 before installing it -- booted from a Live DVD/USB -- and did it work properly?Windows no longer obstructs my view.
