This was the result here. I have been searching all day to find why it will not allow su admin options.

    Maybe a reboot?

      Hi,

Looks like it's trying to be launched for a konsole with no access to X.
When you get this error, can you try to type only kcontrol and see if it's not the same ?
I would try to open a new konsole and then type sudo kcontrol.

I've just tried and it's working well, if you didn't su to another user between... What I'm not doing quite often

apt-get install kcontrol will fix your problem. Use your normal password to logon to the administrator mode. It worked for me.

same issue on my laptop with 1024x768
no issues with external lcd with 1280x1024

on my laptop i turn the network setting tool "full screen" mode
i can access the "admin" button, then

          no much use, though
'cause profiles are not applied correctly
default gw is not applied correctly
          broadcast is not applied correctly
and i have to go and do i by hand anyway
          so...

          hope this helps

this is the password bug you're talking about, right?
the others are not fixed yet, or are they?
              cheers mate

you can use kdesu systemsettings and click network settings to get in there without clicking admin mode, or you can scroll in the taskbar and maximize the screen (might have to click more than once). On a 1024x768 screen it should work (I have 1024x768 and it works here, but I mostly use the first (kdesu..) methood.
