X won't start

After upgrading my system (see post http://kubuntuforums.net/index.php?topic=1853.0), X doesn't start anymore with startx (forced to use that since my kdm is gone and refuse to start).

X is complaining about 'font fixed' :

Fatal server error:
could not open default font 'fixed';

Any help appreciated...
