OK. It has been sitting around not doing much. Decided to take it to 8.04 XFCE since that is all this Celeron 500MHz system w/384MB RAM can handle. Upgrade went flawlessly. Literally, flawless. I've never had an upgrade go this well. One problem. On boot with kernel 2.6.24-19-generic, I get the usual loading screen but when it gets ready to switch to the login screen I get a pretty display of colors fading to all white. Really interesting display actually. I can log in knowing the sequence to go though, just nothing but white screen. When rebooting I choose the older kernel 2.6.22-14-generic and it is flawless. I love what Xubuntu has done. This White Screen has me baffled. Anyone else have had this experience with it or Kubuntu? All is fine with the older kernel, I would just like to know why it does this on the new kernel. Thanks!
