Stuck with IceWM

I just updated to Bionic Beaver and the reboot after the upgrade failed due to a bad gpu driver. I have fixed that but now I get IceWM everytime I log in. I have tried reinstalling kubuntu-desktop, reconfiguring sddm, etc.

I'm guessing the update didn't finish due to the crashing X server, but what do I need to do to make that happen?

sudo dpkg --configure -a
sudo apt -f install

Repeat those two over and over until neither returns anything.
