[SOLVED] Problem with desk top icons

Not sure I'm using the right terms here.
I created a number of icons on the desk top to run a number of applications
When I click on a particular icon it takes on all the properties of another icon.
Kubuntu 18.04
Any help would be appreciated.

The desktop icons were created by:-
Right click on the desktop and select 'Create New/Link to application'
