Disabling System Notifications

There isn't any option in SystemSettings to disable the sound notifications from apps such as Kile, Dolphin or even the terminal.
Is there any systemwide option to completely disable audio notifications?

For most sound event notifications SystemSettings is the app to use. The terminal, Konsole, for instance: SystemSettings-->Notification --> Konsole (in dropdown combo box) -- select events you want and disable them, or, click button in lower left corner "Disable sound for all of these events" If an app or service isn't listed in "Notifications" then use its man pages to see how to disable sound for it, if it is possible.
