Just saw this tonight in the TBS Big Bang Theory Sunday evening marathon:
Western Digital My Cloud
http://www.computerworld.com/s/artic...rive_media_hub
My Cloud runs on Linux
dot, dot, dot
My Cloud personal cloud storage is compatible with Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, Snow Leopard, as well as DLNA/UPnP enabled devices.
There is a .exe which apparently installed under Wine.
As to intefacing with Linux:

Or.....I guess one could just make it into a Linux box and have done with it! lol

The shares can be mounted in Linux either via CIFS (SMB) or NFS.
rsync is available via command line, but there's limitations.
From what I can tell, it will only use SSH (instead of allowing rsh), so it enforces encryption of the data stream,
.......which slows it down quite a bit. And I don't believe there's an rsyncd, which limits rsync's functionality further.
