fast user switching

I have icewm installed as well as kde using Intrepid. Under kde fast user switching
is point n clik and fast. Is there a convenient way to do this when using icewm.
Previous to Intrepid I used clt+alt+f2, logged in and used 'startx -- :1'. If I do
this now X starts without a window manager. I use many kde programs and
processes while using icewm but haven't found a way to use fast user switching.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
