[PLASMA 5] Two monitors have wrong resolution

Hi

I have two monitors connected to my KDE Box.

Since a while, the displays only showed up with the wrong resolution. To correct that, I have to go to system settings->Display and monitor->Displays and correct the values by hand. Then I click on Apply and all is ok.
But when I logged out and in again, the displays have only a resolution of 1024x768, which is not the wished size.
Where are these settings stored, or how can I store these values to have them right in my session without modifying them by hand.

This seams like its a virtual machine runnign in virtualbox, if this is a virtual box try using the virtual box program to set the display size on the virtual machine. Be sure you have also installed the virtual box dkms driver in the host and the virtualbox client driverers in the virtual machine.

Thanks for your answer, but this isn't the case. If the dkms drivers weren't installed, I were not able to switch into another resolution. In my opignion, the problem is that the program in system settings doesn't simply save the values I entered.
Where does it save those values?

I cannot find the file xorg.conf. Mint 18.3 is based on Kubuntu on ubuntu 16.04 and uses wayland. (I think so)

I think you are right sithlord. I didn’t notice the VBOX HD designation.
He should load the guestadditions package.

The guest additions are installed. Without them, I couldn't even switch to a higher resolution.
The problem is, when I logged out the Xsession and in again, the XWindow is smaller than my screen.
It always worked. The values in systemsettings are not saved after hitting apply. When I close the program and go back, the program gives back the resolution of the two screens of 1024x768.

I found the solution:

1. Log in to a console (not in X)
2. sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
3. eventually rm ~/.kde/share/config/kcm*
4. sudo reboot

This reconfigures X.
