Plasma and Wayland

In my Kubuntu 18.04 (beta 2) login screen I have 2 options, Plasma and Plasma (Wayland).
I have chosen Wayland to se what's the difference but my external monitor wasn't recognized and the mouse pointer felt not that smooth as with default only-Plasma option.
Is this related to being in beta 2? should I expect Wayland to be a better choice later?

Plasma Wayland session - Available for testing, but not supported

A Plasma Wayland session is included for testing, but is not supported. Users needing a stable desktop experience should select the normal 'Plasma' (without Wayland) option at login.

IMO Wayland is way not ready for prime time Desktop use, Believe that is why Ubuntu chose not to use it as default for it's LTS release this time around.
I may be ready in the future but just now use is as they say just to experiment with.
