But isn't the point of an AppImage to package all dependencies? In what way doesn't the AppImage work for you?

The 2.1.1 version works for me. I'll try the 2.1.2 one as well.

It seems to need the OS to have QtWebEngine 5.8+ to be able to connect to internet sites (it can run local webpages). Neon has 5.9 whilst Kubuntu only has 5.7. This is why the ubuntu repos don't have Qupzilla 2 and why the dev stopped running his own repository.

I don't know what Ubuntu has or doesn't. Plus, I've enabled kubuntu backports. With AppImage v. 2.1.1 I can access the internet as the image shows.

Again, the point of using the AppImage is that concerns about what the OS supplies do not arise. I agree that not having the required engine in the repos, makes it impossible to provide the browser the regular way.

Well colour me confused then because all I get is the above error message and if the appimage works fine then the dev's advice needs updating.

I tried it in Neon in a virtual machine and it worked fine.

As far as I am aware, you can't connect to youtube from http; it needs to be https. Try: https://m.youtube.com/

I just typed youtube.com, I can't remember the last time there when the first part of the address didn't get autofilled. Anyway, it doesn't matter what prefix is typed, it doesn't connect to anything on the net.

Typing just youtube.com works for me: Qupzilla 2.1.1.2 (AppImage).

                            Code:
                            Application version 2.1.2
                            QtWebEngine version 5.8.0

Turns out I just needed to delete the qupzilla folder in the /home/.config/ folder.

So now the question is: why should one prefer Qupzilla/Falkon over Firefox or Google Chrome/Chromium or Vivaldi?
