    Desktop Themes

    Anyone know what part of a Desktop Theme controls that selection color? I like the theme other than that.

    I think it's ,,,,,, /usr/share/plasma/desktoptheme/<theme-name>/widgets/glowbar.svgz

    if you can change the color in some setting some where IDK ,,,,,,,I had no luck trying to change it in systemsettings>color>colors

    altering the .svgz may be the only way?

      It's not glowbar.svgz, that one is used for panel unhide hint glow

      Try modifying viewitem.svg(z). You can also copy the file from another theme (which has a look that you prefer)

      More info on plasma theme files:

        As kubicle told Plasma 5 theming:

        https://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Plasma5
        --> https://techbase.kde.org/Development...5/ThemeDetails

        Colors: https://techbase.kde.org/Development...Details#Colors

        If a theme has the 'colors' file:

        Without the 'colors' file the plasma theme should follow the KDE Application Color Scheme:

        After the edit the 'normal' plasma nuisance:

        - Stop the plasma
        - Clear the plasma cache
        - Restart the plasma

        Paths

        KDE/KF5/Plasma5 is following XDG Base Directory Specification: https://specifications.freedesktop.o...ec-latest.html

        $XDG_DATA_HOME defines the base directory relative to which user specific data files should be stored. If $XDG_DATA_HOME is either not set or empty, a default equal to $HOME/.local/share should be used.
        ...
        $XDG_CONFIG_HOME defines the base directory relative to which user specific configuration files should be stored. If $XDG_CONFIG_HOME is either not set or empty, a default equal to $HOME/.config should be used.
        ...
        $XDG_CACHE_HOME defines the base directory relative to which user specific non-essential data files should be stored. If $XDG_CACHE_HOME is either not set or empty, a default equal to $HOME/.cache should be used.
        =>

        $HOME/.local/share/plasma/desktoptheme/<theme name here>
        $HOME/.cache/<plasma cache file here>

            That helped a little. Between the two Themes I was trying to blend there are a lot of other underlying configurations that trip over one another. It's functional now. Colors still not quite what I wanted but way better than that green. Thanks!

                Actually I changed it from that one too to another....Elegance. I changed it's color too and it did the same. But, the color is fine now. I am only doing this because what I was using, Enlightenment Gold, had a few issues on the lock screen text being unreadable and the panel slider bars were not visible either. I only really liked Enlightenment Gold because of the gold selection highlight and the open windows in the TaskBar had a goldish outline too. That is all. No biggie. I'll adapt. Thanks for asking though!

                When I get time some day, I'll look further on the How To.
