[LAPTOP] I still can't get my sd card to read. this is becoming worthless.

I'm been looking everywhere for a solution to this problem for a week. Nothing. I'm on 16.04 I have a lenovo y700 laptop and I can not mount my SD card in my internal reader. I can on windows, in fact windows doesn't have any problems with any of my devices. I can mount usb drives on 16.04 and that reads but can't with my SD Card. This needs to be fix. I've read every single post about installing sd drivers and solution and nothing has worked. I've even reinstalled 8 times my harddrive and nothing has worked. Most of the answers on this subject are just wrong and poor. Yes I've tried every single on of those suggestion on here. So please anyone with a real knownledge on this subject please fix this

I posted a couple of days ago and no answers that worked. I'm getting to the point of just giving up and going back to windows 10. If I can't mount my sd card on my own laptop, then linux is not for me. What makes this worst is that this isn't the only problem with kubuntu. I can't even setup my email on kmail. I mean really? This is just turning out to be a nightmare.

I agree strongly that your internal card reader should just work, but external USB card readers are surprisingly cheap and handy. I've used one for years that cost me $10, originally for a machine that had its own reader that didn't support the capacity of SD I had.

I'm sorry but this is too much of a headache then its worth. I can't setup my email with Kmail, sd card won't read and installing this system took almost 3 days. Thats has to be a red flag. I'm going back to windows. In fact installing ubuntu, fedora, mint with won't even install wifi and now kubuntu has been a headache that I rather just stick to windows. Sorry but this is not for me.

          befor you run do a
          Code:
          sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
and see if it helps ,,,,new kernel is out .

PS ? installing the system usually takes 30 min or so

OK then ,,,,,if your going to dump the system and go back to windows their is no harm in trying the workaround .

                    open a konsole and do
                    Code:
                    kdesudo kate /etc/default/grub
add to this line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash sdhci.debug_quirks2=0x4" ,,,,,,,,save and close kate then do a sudo update-grub and reboot.

you may be fixed ,,,,,,or locked out .

from a camera you say... what format is the sd card in ?

there is by default no drivers installed for exFAT

exfat-fuse exfat-utils packages are needed for exFAT .

you can see if this will help by booting a live disk and installing those two package before you try to mount the sd card.

also use lsblk with the card in to see if its shows as a block device (if its not exfat)
