[DESKTOP] Cannot open ConsoleKit

Yesterday, during update The update stopped, quit. I exited updates and rebooted, now just before desktop opens I get a message that says "Cannot open ConsoleKit Session: unable to Open Session: The Permission of the setuid helper is not correct". I don't have network correction.

1-dose the box boot to the login screen , but just wont login?

2-at what point in the upgrade process did it quit , during the download part or the unpacking and configuring ?

where you say

do you mean now that this problem has happened & how do you connect , wired or wireless.

I don't use a login, I go right into the desktop. That message I get has an OK box and when I click on it the desktop starts. Also I am unable to see my second HDD. My network connection is wired and I can see the other computer just fine but the other computer, a windows xp computer cannot.
