Minor problem but very annoying

Running kubuntu 14.04 with dual monitors.
The annoying thing is this: Whenver I start anything, it posp up on the secondary screen and I have to drag to the primary. Is there a setting to specify which screen to use? Either globally, or better yet, individually?

you have a few options. you can either use another placement scheme (system settings-> window behavor -> window behavor -> placement) .
or you can set window rules for your specific windows check out window rules in the same control module (system settings -> window behavor -> window rules). you can also create rules by using the window's menu (rt.click on the windows icon) and under "more options" use "Special Window Settings" or "Special Application Settings" .
