Strigi has always been a large part of Nepomuk. In fact a lot of users still do not understand the difference between the two...

For 4.10, We decided to take a very drastic change and move away from Strigi...

This new file indexer currently resides in the nepomuk-core repository and does not have a public interface. I'm currently still debating if it should be public for 4.10. Write about if it gets a public interface, one can theoretically write plugins in other languages.

So far we have 5 indexers -

Image File - Based on Exiv2
Video Files - Based of ffmpeg (We might move to gstreamer)
Audio Files - Taglib
PDF Files - Poppler
Plain Text files

The packages for the 4.10. beta1 (4.9.80) have started to drop into the raring repos. Mostly libraries at this point, so it's safer to wait with the upgrade until the rest gets built.

If you look at the "kubuntu plan" on the first post, the current plan is to make 4.10 rc1 (due Dec 19th) available for quantal (12.10) in all likelihood through a ppa repo. The betas are for raring only.

I have been kept very busy during the last six months with Homerun, spending little time on Gwenview. Luckily Gwenview received several contributions from other developers during this cycle, so Gwenview 2.10 (from KDE SC 4.10) features some significant improvements...

Been using beta2 for a few days now. I quite like it, allot of small improvements all over the place. However it seems to be missing plasmoidviewer (anyone else have this installed on kde 4.10 beta2? or am I the only one missing it?)

If you have used plasmoidviewer, plasamengineexplorer or plasmawallpaperviewer from past releases of KDE Workspaces while developing Plasma components, you may be surprised to find them gone in the upcoming 4.10 release.

Well, they aren't actually gone: they have been moved to the plasmate git repository...
