Any way to make Folderview widget show files in compact/details mode, not icons mode?

I want to have a folder displayed on my desktop, but the one that I like having there is a collection of text files with often-similar names. I need the display to show the full names, as would be done in compact or details view in dolphin, rather than just an the text-file icon for every file in the folder.

Is there any way to change this widget's settings to show something other than icons with snippets of file-names, or perhaps another similar widget that will do this which I missed while looking for one?

I do not think this is possible with the folder view widget. It is similar to but not the same as dolphin, ie you can move the icons where you want inside it, you cannot in dolphin so they do not share the same layout mechanics.

I would suggest making a feature request to add this functionality.

However the tooltips do show the full filename for long filenames if you hover over them for a short time. Not sure how helpful this is to you though.
