[SOLVED] Preventing Kubuntu from creating new Plasma activity on each reboot

    Hi,
I really like the concept and use of activities however, I have noticed that each time I start Kubuntu, I have yet a new activity that is created automatically. This is a real pain because if I create a panel and add an activity widget to it, I get a new button each time I boot and it has the name of "New Activity". I have to delete a dozen activities a week to keep it under control.

Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

What version of kde? Does this also happen for a new user account?

That is a bug, I would say. It might be cause by some error that has crept into your configuration files, and james147's suggestion of testing it in a new user account would help eliminate that.

I haven't seen it myself and I don't recall hearing about it as a common issue.
I'd rather be locked out than locked in.

        Hi James,

        KDE Version is 4.7.4

I tested a new user and could not reproduce the symptom. Looks like the issue is profile related SecretCode's assumption seems on the point. Do you know how I would go about cleaning this up?

        Thanks!

First try resetting plasma-desktop or kwin to its default settings (I would start with plasma-desktop) by renaming or moving ~/.kde/share/config/plasm* (all files the begin with plasm) and ~/.kde/share/config/kwin*
