I'm sorry that Kmail has not provided adequate service for you.
I dunno, I use Kmail from within Kontact along with akonadi but default to the classic and have had zero problems and don't really have a thing about appearance or anything.
However, appearance is a personal thing so some like it and some don't.
I use Yahoo for anything junk and only use Kontact with gmail so that may be one reason for not having problems.
Gmail was, originally, just for friends and family so the volume was small, but when I started the online book business all orders come into Kontact and again, I have had zero problems and the volume is quite large.
I....thought...I had a problem with the original setup for the business mail, but after I restarted the program and the computer, and the whole thing had time to integrate itself, "behind the scenes" as it were, it has worked fine.
