Amarok fails to initialise ipod

I'm trying to transfer music from Amarok to a new ipod shuffle.

When I plug it in I get a popup recognising it as an ipod but when I launch Amarok it gives this message:

"Media Device: could not find iTunesDB on device mounted at /media/IPOD'. Should I try to initialize your iPod?"

So I click yes and it brings up a list of devices, I then click my device and I get another popup:

"Media Device: Failed to initialize iPod mounted at /media/IPOD'"

I don't know for certain, but I have been told that new iPods are locked and can only be activated through iTunes. Supposedly, they work fine once activated.

Well I did indeed resort to installing iTunes and everything was working fine so I will test it again with Amarok later

It's working fine with Amarok now
