Keyboard and mouse not recognised after updates

I'm using kubuntu on an acerbic aspire one netbook, I ran system updates and it said 673 updates available. So I started them all, after a hundred or so it advised me to reboot, so I reboot and can't log in because key lard and mouse don't respond. If I boot to recovery command line he keyboard is ok, but I don't know what to do from there. Any help?

Maybe they are better solutions, but I would try to use an older version of kernel at Grub menu. I was once in the similar situation with the same netbook and I had to wait with an older kernel version until brand new kernel version repaired the problem.
Kubuntu 16.04 on two computers and Kubuntu 17.04 on DELL Latitude 13

From the recovery command line, type:
      Code:
      dpkg --configure -a
      apt-get -f install
      apt-get update
      apt-get upgrade
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007

Re: Keyboard and mouse not recognised after updates

All the old kernels have the same problem

I tried those commands, the first gives no errors or output

apt-get -f install says: 0 upgraded 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 552 not upgraded, along with some ignoring file errors

apt-get update just gives a list of :W failed to fetch errors

apt-get upgrade says 461 upgraded, 0 newly installed , 0 to remove and 91 not upgraded

        then tells me I need 26.1mb y/n
then I get a ton of fail to fetch errors again and it suggests I try again with --fix-missing

I tried with --fix-missing, it replaced 6 files then finished, rebooted and same problem.

I think judging by this there is no network connection either

        *************nevermind, reinstalled OS
