    Set auto log off for some users...

    10.04 with 4.5

    I want to have some users (my daughter) auto log off after 5 minutes or so of inactivity but not me. I can't seem to find this setting anywhere - ideas?

      I appreciate that link and I will use that little tidbit for my servers, but it appears the tmout setting is only for console sessions, not X sessions. This was so easy under kde3 - screensaver options handled it.

      More hours of web searching reveals two options: kshutdown and xautolock

      kshutdown seems the easier to set up so I am attempting adding this to the .bashrc of my little girl to log her out five minutes after she stops using the computer;

      kshutdown --init --hide-ui -l -i 5

      Unfortunately, I'm guessing she will be logged out without warning and if she's watching a video, I doubt that will be detected as activity.

      So now I need a way to define Youtube, VLC, Dragon and a few others as "Activity" and add a notification about a minute before log out.
