    system sounds -- drums

Please tell me how to replace the KDE (or is it Kubuntu?) system sounds with those wonderful old drums from the original Ubuntu. They must still be around somewhere.

    I'm using Kubuntu 10.4; KDE 4.4.2.

    Tia,

    Re: system sounds -- drums

    Hi,

start with installing "ubuntu-sounds", then launch "systemsettings" (kde system settings).

From there choose the "Application and system notifications" item, then the "manage notifications" section (first one).

In the main window you'll find a drop-down menu (in the first tab "Applications") search for "kde workspace". You will see a list of kde default system sounds, locate the "login" item and replace it by choosing the file /usr/share/sounds/ubuntu/stereo/desktop-login.ogg . Your done, good ol' African beat is back !

Disclaimer : I am on 10.10, but should apply to 10.04 too
