[EXPLAINED] KDE 4.5.1 System Tray Icons - no color?

So what's with the 'no-color' icons in the System Tray? I'm running the default Oxygen Icon Theme, which I was before upgrading to KDE 4.5.1, where the icons in the System Tray were colored.

Is it possible to get the colored icons back?

Added: Apparently this issue has already been brought up on KDE Community Forums According to a comment posted by Alec:
'However, when I reported that back in the Beta 1 phase, I was told that "not only is it a purposeful design decision but has been met with pretty much overwhelmingly positive feedback."'
Feedback by who!? Certainly not the users out in the wild (us). The development team? Likely. :P
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

    ...
Mine were white with the 4.5.0 release

I agree... the white ones are not impressive.

it is the new 'theme' for those basic systray applests
I think there is a way to get colored icons back, but not sure if the method is still valid as I am seeing different outcomes poking around google

I rather like the theme, the mix if colored and monochrome seems to feel right for me

Having used 4.5 since during it's pre-release, I have not noted many complaints about it, but no big 'heck yes!' either, tbh. The lack of people asking how to change the icons may speak for its acceptance, perhaps.

I will of course, 'live with it.' I do understand the concept offered by one of the developers, that these icons are for 'system' processes, not under the direct control of the user. In that sense, separate colors (or lack of) to differentiate 'system' from 'user' has merit. I liked my colored System Tray icons is all.

OK so I just got bord.....

renamed /usr/share/kde4/apps/desktoptheme/default/icons/audio.svgz to /usr/share/kde4/apps/desktoptheme/default/icons/audio.svgz.old loged out then in and now the audio icon is the old familiar one

hummm the onley other one that bothers me is clipper .......so of to try that as well.

Not all the icons in /usr/share/kde4/apps/desktoptheme/default/icons/ have counterparts in installed Themes. Found that out by renaming all of the icons to with the extension .svgzOLD and logging out/in of KDM. The battery and notification had no icon in the System Tray, although the space for them was there, and if you moused over the space, you got the pop-up telling you what was there.

Easier for me to 'learn to love' the mono-chrome System Tray icons, so I renamed them back.
