Correction: While I can active the Blur effect, it apparently doesn't actually function. But, neither does it cause any problems. I don't need it any way - pure eye candy - so I'll just live it unchecked.

Kontact/Kmail is working 'as it should' under KDE 4.5.1. I was concerned, because it is important that converting from KDE 4.4.5 to 4.5.1 doesn't interfere with my working Kontact/Kmail.
So, to make a long story short, if you have not set up Kontact/Kmail, then in KDE 4.5.1, you still need to follow my HOWTO Configure KDE and Akonadi so it just works noting the following 'differences' in KDE 4.5.1:
KDE Resources is now in System Settings > Personal Information
Autostart is now in System Settings > Startup and Shutdown
Now I know that I can follow my posted upgrade procedures in my production LL 10.04 to upgrade it to KDE 4.5.1 and that Kontact/Kmail will still be working.

Done. Successfully upgraded my production LL 10.04 KDE 4.4.5 to KDE 4.5.1. Kontact/Kmail still functions fully as it did before the upgrade. Life is good. 8)

Upgraded today from 4.4.2 to 4.5.1. Everything is good so far, except for fonts in some plasma themes being too big, Kwin disabling 3D effects every time I start a new session, and the power management tool not letting me set CPU frequencies directly anymore (option to set the CPU governor is gone). I'm sure I will find something else to bitch about over the weekend, but looks okay so far.
Another annoyance I just found is that the folder view plasmoid is no longer showing previews of my files.
Just go into the widget configuration and click on Display and check Previews. You can click on More Preview Options... to check which file types to be previewed.

I already did. Nothing. Previews work fine with Dolphin though.
