    KDE 4.4.2 - keyboard shortcuts working for you?

    I just attempted to set up a keyboard shortcut to launch my browser. Right-click the kickoff, choose "menu editor", select the application of choice, choose the "Advanced" tab, click on the "Current shortcut key" which in default mode is "none", and while it is showing "Input", press a key. It looks like it works -- it records the key that was pressed. File > save and close the menu editor. Later, press the chosen key, and observe that the application does not launch. Re-open menu editor to see if you are dreaming. Observe that it has indeed remembered your chosen key. So, the bug is not in the editor package, it is in the connection to the launcher, I guess.

    Do you all see it the same?

    Works fine in my case but was setup a couple of months ago when I installed lucid alpha.

      System Settings -> Input Actions
      Check KMenuEdit and apply and there you go.

        What I was going to suggest.

          Aha!

          Yep, that does the trick. Thank you very much!

            So that's how you pull that rabbit out of the hat! Cool. 8) (just gave it a go, assigning the Windows+d sequence for Dolphin)

              I just tried to assign a keyboard shortcut using Windows key but it didn't work, it just showed me a couple of [] boxes... and never saved the settings... Even so other keys worked fine.

                If, when you installed Kubuntu, you didn't identify the correct keyboard layout - one that included the 'meta' Window(s) keys, then those keys can't be interpreted. I believe that would create your issue.

                  Then I'll wait till I think it's save and stable to install Maverick to confirm that.
