I just did the huge update for lucid (FYI, the same kde upgrade is sitting in the staging/proposed ppas for karmic, so beware, this is not irrelevant), and it has messed up the kde desktop pretty bad. Basically everything is there, but the display doesn't work properly (no panel, no menu, etc.).
I believe there is a way to reinitialize or reset the display, without deleting .kde, which would also destroy all of the application configurations. Removing .kde/share/config/plasmarc or something like that?
