Problems with screen resolution at login

I have a problem with mu newly installed Kubuntu 9.10:

The kde login screen appears at a resolution of 800x600. I don't care about it, but when I login the screen continues at 800x600 until I visit Sistem Settings -> Display. I only have to open Display and the screen automatically changes to 1024x768, I don't need to click anything.

It seems that my login process is not looking at the screen resolution until I visit the Display properties in System Settings. Can anybody help me with this issue?

    Maybe the xorg.conf will help > X/Config/Resolution
While xorg.conf is largely empty these days, it can still be used for setting up resolutions.
