Is there a way to disable the animated mouse cursors, and particularly the "twisting circles" ones? I just find them irritating. I have not been able to find a cursor theme that does not have them, and there do not appear to be any icons within the themes that control this behavior.

Re: Disable animated mouse cursors?
What version of Kubuntu, and what Cursor Theme are you using? Cursor Themes (should) be in System Settings > Keyboard & Mouse > Mouse > Cursor ThemeWindows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

Re: Disable animated mouse cursors?
Kubuntu-9.10 (whatever the current up-to-date version is, kde-4.3.2, I think)
Cursor theme: I've tried several, all with the same animations. We can use "Oxygen White" for the purpose of discussion.

Here the "System Settings > Keyboard & Mouse > Mouse > Cursor Theme" is working for the users. Before the log in the Kubuntu/KDE is using the default cursor theme.
Changing the default theme
(example)
/usr/share/icons/default/index.theme has:
Code:[Icon Theme] Name = Oxygen White Comment = Oxygen mouse theme. Oxygenize your desktop! Inherits = oxy-white
Unpacking OpenZone_Black. Copying it, in to the /usr/share/icons/OpenZone_Black. Editing /usr/share/icons/default/index.theme:
Code:[Icon Theme] Name = OpenZone Black Comment = OpenZone Black mouse theme. Inherits = OpenZone_Black
/1/ or make your very own theme.

Re: Disable animated mouse cursors?
Thanks for the info.
What I did is copy the oxy-white theme to oxy-white-noanim, found some cursors in the whiteglass theme that I copied into oxy-white-noanim as wait and watch, and then set oxy-white-noanim to default. Works like a charm.
I will eventually get around to making my own theme -- a rainbow kubuntu animation would sure be cool.We only have to look at ourselves to see how intelligent life might develop into something we wouldn't want to meet. -- Stephen Hawking
