KDE4 + Dolphin - Wierd colours when using dark themes

I'm hopeing someone can help me with this as its a problem i've seen for a while on both intrepid and jaunty. When trying to use a colour scheme for kde that uses dark window backgrounds dolphin always displays a light window background, meaning with a light coloured text (for visibility on a dark background) the text is pretty unreadable..
Anyone have any idea what or where the problem could lie? i'm attaching some screen shots

Best use one of the themes that come with kubuntu such as Obsidian Coast or Crimson, all the colours are figured out correctly.

I have the same problem with any dark theme including obsidian coast... so as far as i can tell its not a problem with the theme but with dolphin, all other applications display properly
