    [Solved]KDM themes in 8.10 KDE 4.1.4

    What kind of tweaks are necessary to make KDM themes other than Oxygen work on Intrepid 4.1.4 ?

    SysSett>Advanced>LoginManager>Get New Themes doesn't work Well it kind of works, it downloads the themes, they're in /usr/share/kde4/apps/kdm/themes/ but aren't on the Theme list

    Forum search returned this, but just renaming GdmGreeterTheme.desktop to KdmGreeterTheme.desktop doesn't help, still no additional themes in the theme list.

    Any ideas?

    No it doesn't. KdmGreeterTheme.desktop need to start with [KdmGreeterTheme] (Hardy (?) and later).

    > Topic: Installed custom KDM Themes not being listed

    Making a directory: /usr/share/kde4/apps/kdm/themes/funnyname and dropping there:

    KdmGreeterTheme.desktop
    Code:
    [KdmGreeterTheme]
    Encoding=UTF-8
    Greeter=test.xml
    Name=This_Is_Very_Important_Line

    Description=Test theme

    Author=Rog131
    Screenshot=face-wink.png
    and an imagefile face-wink.png

    after this, at here, the Login Manger will show:

    What is you renamed KdmGreeterTheme.desktop first line ?

      Tnx 4 a very quick and very helpfull advice.

      That's the prob with English not being my first language. I kept wondering why does it say twice to change Gdm to Kdm, didn't get it that the first line inside the Kdm file has to be edited. Tbh, I haven't even opened the file, just renamed it.

      Now that I've edited the first line of all the files I have themes.

      Tnx again
