Screen Rotation Display problem HP TX2500

I am using the TX2500 tablet pc, Kubuntu 8.10 KDE 4.2 RC1. I am using the open source radeon driver, which does not support 3D acceleration, but does support rotation. I am not using the ATI proprietary fglrx driver (I have heard the latest version of fglrx supports rotation, but I'll let someone else be the guinea pig on that...)

I have all the screen rotation problems solved, except for the following:

When I rotate the screen, any application I open thereafter displays EXTREMELY LARGE FONTS on the toolbar, as if it were displaying for the visually impaired.

This only happens with applications that were *not* open at the time of rotation. Any application that was open when I rotated it, even if the window was minimized, appears with the correctly sized fonts.

This does not happen on ubuntu, so I'm relatively certain that this is a KDE problem. Any suggestions?
