Multiple Desktops/Multiple Backgrounds?

Finally got 4.2 working smoothly, but my number 1 desktop has a background, while all the other three are blank. I can't even right click and get the settings option, and when I go to Display in the System Settings, the window pops up on desktop 1. I can open other apps on these desktops but would like to have backgrounds and widgets and stuff too.

I worked on adding per-virtual-desktop-views for Plasma.

I committed the feature to svn just a while ago and it does work. There are some quirks and some issues it highlights, but nothing bigger than what we've worked through before so I'm not overly worried. It will be an experimental feature in 4.2, which means no GUI. If you want to try it out, put perVirtualDesktopViews=true in your plasmarc in the [General] section...

Backup your "plasmarc" before you edit it.

I tried it here (with the Kubuntu 9.04) but the result was that the first desktop has a wallpaper but the others are blank (white). I didn't tinker it more as the aseigo said "If it doesn't make it into 4.2 it will be in 4.3..."

It still dosen't work in Kubuntu and last time I checked it also dosen't work in KDE-neon.
But this option does work in OpenSuSE (With 4.2.62 - is that KDE neon?), which was reported in KDE forums.

Grrrr... that was one of the main points of eye candy I was hoping to get back. I figured at least I'd be able to have one image on all desktops. Here's something interesting... I came out of screensaver with my toolbar all the way to the right. It was a cinch to reset it to center, but now my wallpaper and such is stuck on Desktop 4 with nothing on 1 but the kicker... I am confused! I'll try the plasma edit and see what happens, just would like my #1 to be my #1 again.

Okaaaaayyyyy.... I just upgraded my work system to 4.2, had the exact same problems, but I have desktop backgrounds on all four desktops - albeit the same image, but an image nonetheless. And I can change the background and plasma settings from any of the desktops. Any one know what gives? Was a fix introduced in the latest updates?
